THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE SOCIOLOGY OF EDUCATION AS A SCIENTIFIC AND STUDY DISCIPLINE

The paper presents an overview of the historical development of Sociology of Education in the world and in our region, as well as its constitution as a scientific and study discipline. When studying the material for writing this paper, it was concluded that there is little recent literature that addresses the subject of historical background to this subject. The relationship of sociology of education with other sociological disciplines, as well as with general sociology, is also emphasized. We place particular emphasis on books and papers dealing with the constitution of the sociology of education and its inclusion in the curricula in the world and in our country. Only some of the works that are crucial for a chronological understanding of the development of this sociological discipline in the world and in the area of the former Yugoslavia are listed.
